Thanks for your reply, Richard. Expression is key. In the West, in particular, I feel that too much emphasis is put on expression through the language of word and speech. I love these forms dearly, but we do not encourage the language of pictures nearly enough. So many people are liberated when they realise that they can speak loudly or sensitively pictorialy, and be understood. It is a perverse thing, seeing that contemporary culture is so saturated in the images of media and advertising. People read the visual well, often intuitively, but are seldom taught to speak effectively with this priceless communication/artform.

best wishes,

I have recently purchased your foundation course, water colour. It is an
excellent book. I love your use of colour.

I am of the opinion that children under the umbrella of disability should have the opportunity to express themselves through the medium of colour/art.

YOUR INTERVIEW IS FASCINATING. YOU QUOTE ME ON WATERCOLOUR, A MEDIUM WHICH IS DEFINITELY ACCESSIBLE FOR ALL AND THROUGH WHICH I HAVE SEEN MANY FLOURISH AND GAIN IN CONFIDENCE AND TECHNICAL ABILITY. I TEACH AT THE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE FOR THE CREATIVE ARTS IN KENT, AND DURING MY 16 YEARS AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT HAVE TAUGHT A NUMBER OF AUTISTIC AND ASPERGERS STUDENTS. I HAVE SEEN CONSIDERABLE IMPROVEMENT IN ALL THESE STUDENTS THROUGH THEIR STUDY OF ART AND DESIGN. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. KEEP INSPIRED.
