OBAMA’S DEMOCRATIC LANDSLIDE, Nov 2008

November5

Hope by Donna Williams  DEMOCRATIC LANDSLIDE by Donna Williams, Nov 2008

November fifth, in 2008
the world had held its breath

to wait
to take to hell the express train
all the way to hell’s front gate.

Economies around the world
were on their knees
as it unfurled
upon the screens, through radio waves
the news we may just yet be  saved.

An end to torture, wholesale slaughter,
illegal wars made by design,
an end to wholesale wastage by a culture bent on ‘mine’
an end to strong-arm tactics in the trade amidst the poor
an end to social cancer in an era bent on more,
an end to white supremacy, separatism and the status quo,
an end to jobs all shipped away along with Plumber Joe,
an end to slaughter of the polar bears on Alaska’s melting ice
and a start to an America that had a chance to pass for ‘nice’.

Obama held the hope that day, not only of his nation,
he delivered in a landslide, a global feeling of salvation.

You took the words right out of my mouth.:)

I actually voted the day before the election, and today, I pop the cork on my bottle of nonalcoholic champaigne.

It’s not just the presidency that the Democrats won. Democrats won on all levels, so I am extremely hopeful.

Well done Donna, you took that challenge and nailed it on the head.
The time for change has come and this is a change I am looking forward to seeing more of. Even if we are from the other side of the world. I still think it is a change the world is going to see and feel.

A savior? Perhaps too difficult. But certainly a deep breath of relief.
