Hi Stuart,
I did have a DVD called Dietary Wheelchair which documented my diet. I might remake it one day or might put it onto You Tube.

Dear Donna, I have followed both a GFDF and low/no salicylate diet separately and have found both to help greatly.
There are few internet resources I can find which describe performing a combined diet, and there are also variations for each diet e.g. some look to remove all salicylate possible, where as others look to reduce consumption to a level the body can withstand, and on the GFDF diet some remove oats although they aren't strictly 'gluten grains'.
Have you documented the diet you follow, or could you provide some pointers to on-line resources to help formulate a GFDF / salicylate diet?
Many thanks for your time,
Stuart

Hi Cynthia,

yes, I largely eat organic. Re GMOs many GMO crops have been bred for much higher salicylate levels as salicylate is a natural plant toxin which stops bugs eating plants. But around 60% of people with autism have a detox problem making them accumulate salicylate levels to a toxic degree - they are salicylate intolerant. This often leads to behaviour, cognitive, perceptual and inflammatory states.

Anyway, they do this re GMOs to minimise pesticide use on non organic foods and salicylate rich foods are very high in antioxidants so that's meant to offset salicylate toxicity but it doesn't in salicylate intolerant people... in fact the opposite, salicylate overload can supress immune and detox function even further - gut inflammation, inflammed blood brain barrier, liver stress etc... again its only those in the salicylate intolerant group at risk, but a big group... add fluoride toothpaste and swallow it, you multiply salicylate toxicity and strip the lining of the gut - bad news.

But, yes, even non-GMO but non-organic, then means ingesting some degree of pesticides.

And non-organic meat is sky high in antibiotic residues due to poor immunity with nutrient depleted soil cattle live off. it's tough and gettin' tougher. None of this will CAUSE autism but could increase gut, immune, metabolic dysfunctions in those already struggling with this tendency.

Thanks Donna. I did my thesis on autism in 1970. Not much available to work with then. However, I 've kept an interest and still research it for some reason. I have been attempting to find the link between gmo food and pesticides and autism. I've found one potential. Do you eat organically and recommend that and why, if you do?

Since big ag is attempting GMO preemption through out the US, including Hawaii where I live, I want to testify imminently with relatable information.

Thanks for any help.

Infinite Blessings,
