Boundaries and how to stop being a compulsive pleaser
don’t strive to be needed
don’t strive to be wanted
don’t even strive to be loved
nor even to be liked
nor strive to like someone
nor even love them
WHEN you like yourself
WHEN you have come to love that self
it is like sunshine
it warms those who come into contact with it.
it resonates with those who like themselves
and that’s how you’ll attract healthy people
people who won’t need you
who won’t want you because of their own emptiness
who won’t enjoy the freebie of being loved by someone just because they need it
who won’t need to be liked because they already like themselves

Donna,
Thank you for writing that. It brought me strength and encouragement.
I have high functioning autism as well as many of the other issues you contend with, including many of the same food allergies and primary immune deficiency. Other than you and myself I have only ever come across one other person with primary immune deficiency in the world! Sometimes I come to read your blog just so I don’t feel like I’m the only person like me in the world. Thanks for writing and I hope you are feeling well these days.
