Ever the arty Autie

TV station seeks volunteers on the autism spectrum

January14

Just Wait by Donna Williams  Noise TVis a music TV show on Channel 31 in Melbourne.  They produce music related programs</a> and also film and screen acts playing at Noise Bar in Brunswick where Donna And The Aspinauts are playing this February, Sunday the 8th.

Noise TV is run on a limited budget and is largely filmed and edited by volunteers who have gained experience in camera, sound and editing work at the TV station.

Noise TV need editors and camera people and will provide some training.  You will also be able to get screen credits for camera work so this is something you can use in a CV.  You can choose hours to suit yourself.  Camera, sound and editing work are all techie occupations that can involve plenty of solitary space and don’t require well honed social skills.  Significant experience in these areas of TV and film work may lead to employment or becoming a self employed contractor.  Casual volunteering will also not interfere with any disability or unemployment benefit you are receiving.

If you are interested in this as work experience, contact the producer, Simon:

Simon has a number of people with Asperger’s involved with Channel 31 and I’m an interviewer on Visions which is another of the shows produced at Channel 31 (and I’ve taken a few Aspies along there as volunteers to gain experience and credits doing camera work).  So you can expect a reasonably autism-friendly environment at channel 31.

Good Luck,

Donna Williams *)
